California Department of Rehabilitation Contracted Services
Kids First Foundation holds a contract with the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR).
When students or adults (ages 15 - 70 yo) are referred to us from the DOR, the following five
services may be provided to DOR consumers:
Employment & Career Development Services: KFF partners with the California Department of
Rehabilitation (DOR) to provide individualized employment services that help youth and adults
prepare for, obtain, and retain meaningful employment.
Situational Assessments: We evaluate each participant's interests, strengths, abilities, and
support needs to identify career paths and work environments where they are most likely to
succeed. Assessments help create individualized employment plans and training
recommendations.
Personal, Vocational & Social Adjustment (PVSA): Our PVSA services help consumers build the
workplace and life skills needed for long-term employment success. Training may include
communication, workplace etiquette, time management, transportation, budgeting,
self-advocacy, and other skills that support independence and job readiness.
Short-Term Employment Support: We provide individualized on-the-job coaching and
employment support to help participants successfully adjust to the workplace, learn job tasks,
build positive relationships with employers and coworkers, and maintain long-term employment.
Work Experience: Students and adults gain valuable hands-on experience through paid and
unpaid work-based learning opportunities. These can include internships, job shadowing, and
community work experiences. These opportunities help participants explore careers,
